No audio on Chromebook C771T with Debian 12 (Bookworm)

Installed Debian 12 on the C771T-5603 after running the firmware script from mrchromebox.tech. Thanks again, Billsey, for directions to the write protect screw.

There is one issue, however. Apparently the system does not detect onboard audio hardware. External speakers can be enabled but only through USB adapter. I tried installing the kernel from bookworm-backports but no change.

Can anyone offer useful insight or a possible solution for this problem?

Not really, often the Chromebooks use different hardware than the Windows systems do, and that means the Linux developers take longer to port drivers. There should be a way to get the hardware IDs and search for drivers you can compile into the kernel, but I'm not that deep into Linux to know how.
