Set FAN speed to 500 RPM when on idle for Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 - I cannot go below 1800 RPM!

I am having a design issue. I cannot make the fan speed rotate at 500 RPM when the laptop is idle!

I am just doing light browsing and watching a video here and there with one tab open!

Yet I can hear the fan, seriously???

I want this to be fixed. It seems like a design issue. Other laptops that I have owned did not have this issue in fact they turned the fan completely off during light browsing or idling.

I have tried Argus Monitor along with other software like MSI Afterburner and even entered BIOS but no, it does not work!

Predator sense cannot go below 1800 RPM so I cannot even set a custom fan curve.

Take/send your laptop to Acer under warranty, you can't have the fans at 500rpm, as the 1800rpm is very low and the fans should not be heard, one of the PHN16-71 cpu/gpu fans must be faulty and that is why it can be heard at those low rpm speeds.

My computer is recertified. It should have already been tested by Acer so I am pretty sure this is normal!

1,800 RPM especially when doing light tasks is definitely not what I call "QUIET." I can definitely hear it if I focus in on it. I had a Vivobook before and the fans would literally turn off during light loads and become virtually quiet!

The GPU is not even being used during light loads so why is the fan even being powered in the first place???

Don't compare the Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 to any other laptops as the Predator is a new generation top end gaming laptop that needs its cpu/gpu to be cooled properly. The Acer tested cpu/gpu fans at 1750rpm is at a noise level of 22 dBA. Its absolutely strange that you say this "I can definitely hear it if I focus in on it" as very few people do that, and you must be very sensitive to noise. If this is too loud for you then you can't use a gaming laptop, as you need to use a low-end laptop that only has a heatsink. A gaming laptop needs its cpu/gpu fans to dissipate heat out of the laptop 24/7 and otherwise your laptop will crash. Good luck.

I don't think it is strange at all to expect the fans to be inactive during low-normal usage which is what I expect as the bare minimum for a laptop. I do expect active fan noise when I am gaming and I think you misunderstood me there.

For reference, the Lenovo Legion gaming laptop line allows you to set fan preferences for as low as 0 RPM under 50 celsius in a third party app. called Legion Fan Control.

The Dell G15 simply turns fans off under 65 celsius (based on user reports that I've heard) as does the HP Omen which offers a setting in BIOS to allow the fans to turn off.

Lots of people return gaming laptops due to idle noise especially in quiet usage environments like the library!

It's just not acceptable.
