My Aspire has made a crackling sound almost since I got it last year. At first, I started using an external bluetooth speaker to make it sound better. Then the speaker sound started cutting in and out on zoom, so I replaced the speaker. While I was waiting for the new speaker I realized the problem is not with the speaker, but with the computer audio. It cuts in and out and makes a really crackly sound. What can I do to fix this?

If the external USB speaker/headset have the same bad audio, uninstall the Realtek audio driver (assuming this is an Aspire a515-xxxx laptop) with DDU in Safe Mode and just reboot, Windows11 will reinstall thr drivers.

Change the speaker, there is no magic fix for a faulty speaker, they are cheap to replace, don't know which Aspire A515-xx laptop you have so give us the exact Aspire model that you have so that we can give you the exact Acer part number. Good luck.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with the volume on your Acer Aspire Laptop A515. Here are a few steps you can try to fix the issue:
Adjust Volume for Each Application: Click on the speaker icon on the lower right corner of your screen, then go to “Open Volume Mixer”. Try to increase the volume for each application.
Uninstall and Reinstall Sound Driver: If the above step doesn’t work, you can try uninstalling the sound driver from the device manager. To do this, press Windows key + X, go to “Device Manager”, then go to “Sound, video and game controllers”. Expand it and uninstall the sound driver. After uninstalling, restart your computer. Uninstall DDU in Safe Mode and keep the laptop online, just reboot and let Windows11 reinstall the best driver. Windows new Media Player has a built-in equalizer (right click in WMP) that can boost the volume with +12db. Also enable Sound Enhancement, this Audio feature in Windows 11 automatically improves sound quality for the current speaker configuration. This feature consists of Bass Boost, Headphone Virtualization and Loudness Equalization enhancements. Websites like YouTube have embedded players that you cannot control. Using the latest version of Windows Edge may boost the sound volume.
Reinstall Sound Driver from Acer Support: If the issue persists, don’t restart your computer after uninstalling the sound driver. Instead, go to the Acer support website (support.acer.com), choose your country, type SNID or choose your model, go to drivers, and install the sound driver.
Dolby Atmos: Another solution could be to go to the Microsoft store and download the Dolby Access app. Buy the one-time activation if needed. Go to the Sound settings and set your Spatial Audio to Dolby Atmos. Now open up the Dolby Atmos Access app again and choose settings and set a custom equalizer with the frequencies turned all the way up.
Please note that the speakers on some models of Acer Aspire laptops are not very powerful, and you might have to use a good headset (Bluetooth or wired) for louder volume
