What is the full model of your laptop like a515-54G? From what year and when did you last replace the battery? Is this the original power adapter that came with the laptop, what is the wattage? An almost depleted battery being charged to 100% while playing/videos can overheat the laptop, adapter and battery, to avoid this keep the adapter plugged in 24/7 to make sure the battery stays fully charged, reducing the Power Plan to Balanced and external USB devices to a minimum also helps. If you think the battery is still OK, I recommend bringing the laptop to Acer Services in your country, include the adapter.

Try and do a hard reset first and see if the laptop resets and powers on, take the main battery out and disconnect the bios battery and then shot its +&- mainboard plug pins to reset CMOS and take the ram out, leave the laptop like that for 1 hour preferably overnight, then reconnect everything and power the laptop on, as this should reboot your laptop. If not then you need to troubleshoot the issue step by step:

    1. Unplug your charger cord.
    2. Remove the battery.
    3. Press and hold the “Power” button for 30 seconds. Check if the device turns on.
    4. If it does, great! If not, no worries. Now plug back in the power/charger cord. Sometimes devices turn on even without anything attached.
    5. Reinsert the battery and see if it charges.

If these steps don’t help, try charging the battery with the laptop turned off. If it charges when off but not when on, the issue might be with your charger cord. In that case, consider getting a replacement charger.

Additionally, if your battery is overheating, there are several potential causes:

    • faulty sensor or a damaged charging port.
    • Outdated operating system software.
    • The need for a reboot.
    • bad wall charger.
    • dirty charging port.
    • A problematic app.
    • bad battery.

Remember, these are general guidelines, and it’s always best to consult a professional technician if the issue persists. Good luck.

One possible reason for the overheating is a clogged or malfunctioning cooling fan. The cooling fan is responsible for keeping your laptop's components cool, and if it's not functioning properly, heat can build up
inside the device. In this case, it's essential to clean or replace the fan to prevent further damage.

Another potential cause could be a faulty power adapter. If the charger is not delivering the correct amount of power to the laptop, it may cause the system to overheat. Trying a different charger or getting a replacement might solve the issue.
