Here at Huntington Catholic School we have approximately 200 Acer Chromebooks of various ages. Each year we have some donated and we retire the oldest Chromebooks. Up until this year this process has worked well for us but we have run into a bit of a problem. We have state-mandated online testing coming up in April using a state maintained secure testing browser. The browser was updated this year so now the Chrome OS must be version 108 or higher. Unfortunately, all but 34 of our chromebooks have version 103. They are models such as CB3-132-C4VV, CB3-131-C3KD, and CB3-131-C3SZ. They have received their last update according to a message we receive when logging in. Is there any way to force a newer OS on these Chromebooks? Or are there any suggestions for a workaround for this issue?

Thank you.

Yeah, Google eventually settled on a ten year policy for updates, but in 2016 when the CB3-131 models were released, they were still only offering 5 years. The CB3-132 models were actually one year older then the CB3-131. There's not much that can be done, Google is unlikely to change their policy for these machines…
