Acer Swift X14 Win11 usb installer no trackpad, track pad not working

I've recently bought an Acer Swift X14 which I'm very pleased with, and is working well. I would like to do a clean install of Win11 pro but there doesn't seem to be a trackpad driver on the USB installer so you cannot click on the choices. I've read up on how to add these drivers to the USB installer but I'm not having any luck. I'm using NLite to add the drivers to the installer and have exported all the drivers from my working os, as well as downloading all the drivers from the Acer site, and added them all.

Has anyone else had this issue and overcome it?

Mike.

https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/create-custom-windows-11-install-disk Give this a go. I haven't Had this issue but an external keyboard and or mouse is away around early setup before drivers. If your keyboard still works you can use the Tab key to navigate to the options like Ok or Cancel.

Use the Tab key to navigate switch from one option to another on the screen. When button you want --- like next button --- is highlighted, then press enter key. Sometimes you can also use the up-down-right-left
arrow keys to navigate. This is often the technique you must use when the touchpad is temporarily unavailable or you don't have an external mouse. Also try to toggle touchpad on with FN+F7 hotkey combination.

I've got a Swift X SFX14-51G which is the 2022 i7-1260P/RTX3050Ti/16GB LPDDR5 model and not the latest Swift X model, I reinstalled this laptops Acer oem Win-11 OS as it wouldn't come up with the new Win-11 Version 23H2 so I decided to do a clean install. Be warned as this laptop when doing a clean install will get stuck during the installation at "Let's connect you to a network" and you will only be able to install Win-11 without a network that downloads the laptops drivers, unless you fix this during the installation process and do the below steps. As this is another Microsoft head scratcher (that they have NO solution for) that Microsoft always comes up with their new version of windows.

Do this, as when you get to the section at "Let's connect you to a network" > Press > Shift+Alter+F10 > to get the cmd prompt up at C:\Windows\System32> then type in OOE\BYPASSNRO > then press Enter > get out of cmd and get back to the installation again and press the > Continue with limited setup > and finish the Win-11 installation > when you get to the Win-11 desktop screen > then go into Device Manager > Network adapters > and you should see your WLAN card there so install its driver from a separate USB that you should have the WLAN driver on, as this will instate the WLAN card and then you can download all the windows updates and drivers for your laptop like usual. If this doesn't work the first time, then you need to keep trying until the WLAN appears in Device Manager and you can assign a driver to your WLAN card. This is what I had to do and its very frustrating, so be aware of all this.

Note: the appropriate Swift X touchpad driver for your laptop gets installed automatically by Win-11 and you need to make sure that the F7 key has been enabled so that the touchpad will work, as the F7 key is an On/Off switch for this laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

The easiest solution is likely to just use an external mouse during your install. The trackpad drivers can then be installed after Windows is done, if they aren't already at that point.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have made progress. I am a lot more familiar with NLite now and have got the trackpad working by adding the IO drivers to the setup part of the USB installer, the trackpad driver is already there, it just needed the IO drivers so that it would work. The next job will be to go through the installation process and see if it needs hard drive or network drivers. If it does I'll add them. I will then see what drivers are missing after installation and add them to the part of the USB installer so that they get installed along with Windows. When I'm done I'll do a write-up in case anyone else wants to do something similar.
