I need to upgrade the RAM of my Acer Aspire A314-32-P2MA - Red laptop to 8GB, however when I put the new RAM to the second RAM slot, the laptop's screen is just black, but there are lights on the side indicating that there is power. Then, when I remove the RAM from the second RAM slot, the laptop works fine and boots perfectly. And also, upon checking, the Task Manager only shows that there is only ONE RAM slot ATM, however, I know there are TWO. One is built in and soldered to the board, then the one at the back, which can be accessed easily after removing the screw.

Product Details :

- Model: Acer Aspire A314-32-P2MA - Red

- S/N: NXGW7xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

- SNID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Here's what I’ve done so far:

1. I researched a lot and read stuff online before upgrading. I also installed CPU-Z to make sure I’ll get the correct RAM.

2. I purchased a CRUCIAL DDR4 4GB RAM 2400MHZ.

- I thought the RAM was faulty since I have done everything correctly, RAM is also the correct type, so iI concluded that the problem persists because the RAM I purchased is defective. So, I got the RAM replaced and then I tested it on my COUSIN'S LAPTOP and hell, it worked perfectly fine right away. After that, I tried to put the RAM to my laptop and DEYM I was frustrated. It still doesn't work. But! I was able to establish the fact that RAM is not the problem.

So here are my questions:

1. Could it be because my 2nd RAM slot is deactivated, especially since the task manager only shows that I have 1 RAM slot when I actually have 2? If so, how can I activate it?

2. Is my 2nd RAM Slot dead? What are the signs? How can I know? What can I do to fix it?

3. Can I upgrade my RAM to more than 8GB? How?

PS:

- I fully understand that upgrading the laptop’s RAM is not my best option, since the laptop runs on an N5000 processor it will always be slow, but it's the only option that I have as of the moment.

- I am a 2nd year uni student working to support myself. I don't have funds to buy a new one or get my laptop upgraded professionally.

- I am just using my laptop for schoolworks, research, presentations, and other student tasks, I don’t and can't play games with it, still not planning to even after upgrading it. No additional and heavy apps are installed on my laptop.

- I need to upgrade it so that it can run smoother. I tried all the hacks, tips, and tricks to make my pc run smoother, but it's really not enough. So, my other solution is to upgrade the ram to make it run even a bit smoother so I can efficiently do my tasks.

Send help please and thank you in advance.
