Acer swift 3 melted end of charger, plastic is stuck in the charging port.

Today when charging my Acer swift 3 (just over 1.5 years old) I noticed a strong smell of burning plastic. On investigation, I realized that my laptop had actually melted the end of the charger, and (now solid) plastic is stuck in the charging port. I brought the laptop from Curry’s and the warranty has now run out. Can I get a refund or replacement for this kind of thing, given the laptop really isn’t that old.

Alternatively, is this something that can be fixed (and is worth fixing)?
