My Acer 516 ge with i5 says it has a 2.5gb ethernet cable plug in. It plugs in but I think they mean

it's 2.5megabite because it only runs around 50 mb while the wifi get 850-950 MBps download and 250 upload. I hace 1.2 MBps plan with cat 7 and cat 6e cables, XB8 modem and just wish to get a gig to me chromebook;

    The port on your CBG516-1H is a 2.5Gb Ethernet, so you should get full speed out of it. What are you connecting it to, and what type of cable are you using?

    A USB dongle would allow for faster wired connections but to compete with those wi-fi speeds you would need to be connecting your dongle over a USB-C 3.1 or 3.1 gen 2 at there speeds. A standard usb dongle at usb 2.0 or 3.0 speeds wouldn't be as fast.
