Good day all,

Last night checking Windows updates, an Optional Update was available "Inside Firmware upgrade" (Bios Flash). I downloaded and selected reboot when I was prompted to do so.

(Let me just also give you some background on my setup at home - the laptop is connected to the Charger and sitting on a laptop stand, an External 27" monitor as well as external keyboard and mouse with USB earphones - the laptop screen/lid is closed as I mainly run on the External Screen.)

After clicking reboot in Windows to install the Firmware update the laptop restarted - shortly after the fans started running flat out…as it does normally when Bios Updates are performed…there was no display on the external screen and I realized that the Firmware/Bios update most likely will not initialize external monitors……I open the lid and sure enough the Bios update was running……"Big Green Acer Logo" being displayed with a progress bar at the bottom…..

Here is where things went wrong…the progress bar went to about 3/4 of the way and then the laptop just shut off………which was a bit strange as I did not see the progress go to 100% but also Bios Updates tend to do this by shutting down and then restarting the machine again…so I waited……for 3min but still the laptop did not turn on.

I pressed the power button and since then the only thing it does now is the Power LED comes on along with the keyboard backlights……..the fans will slightly spin up and then the whole machine will shut down……this continues in a loop now……it take 10 to 15 sec for the loop to run…continuously now….

Have anyone else has the same happen to them….?

I have opened and disconnected the Battery for a while, removed the RAM and Drives, Tried just with 1 RAM stick in place - with and without the battery connected ext. Same loop continues….no display.

I have Googled for solutions 1 being the manual downloading of the Bios update onto a flash as starting the laptop with the flash drive inserted while depressing Esc+FN but this does little other than spinning the fans on full speed and flashing the flash drive a few times before just shutting off again and going back into the loop of turning off and on again.

I have tried a few flash drives formatted in FAT and FAT32 and different Bios Versions - but none seems to help??

Any advise?
