Acer Nitro 17 AN17-51-76NR, SSD insulative foil.What issues can appear if I use the SSD without foil

I bought the Nitro 17, but unfortunately the only option was the 512GB one :(. I want to add another 2TB SSD, but I've been advised that there should be bought an insuative foil to wrap around it. Now, in my country there aren't any stores that selling that or something close to it, the only option is to order it from another countrywhich would would take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

What issues can appear if I use the SSD without the insualtive foil?

If you can't buy the genuine Acer graphite M.2 SSD wrap and you want to upgrade to a new 2TB drive you can use a thermal pad of 22mm wide x 80mm long x 1.5mm thick that runs on top of the M.2 SSD from top to bottom, as that will cool the M.2 SSD adequately also, look at the Thermal Grizzly thermal pads as their products are high grade and will do the job perfectly. Make sure the copper isn't touching any of the electrical components directly but I have used these twice with good success https://a.co/d/37GM1Hi

I used Arctic 5 Thermal puddy instead of thermal pads. the copper heat sink is affixed to the ssd using little silicone rings .

Overheating and CPU/GPU throttling as a results, 2TB SSDs can get very hot in a thin laptop. Use Basic Power Plan and turn off Turbo Boosting till you receive the heat wraps/blankets and monitor the temps, stop playing at 95°C.

So recommended for this laptop is 1.5 mm thick. I guess 1mm would not keep the heat so good, right?

I received the heatsink, installed it and boy-oh-boy, it works like a charm. The 2TB ssd has the same temperature as the 512GB SSD that came with the laptop, it sits at around 45-49°C while installing a game, not going past 50°C, monitored using HDD Sentintel.
