Hello.

Attempting to connect this Aspire A515-56 to an external monitor without success. The HDMI cable is connected to an Asus monitor, and to the computer. The monitor display from the laptop does not come on. The monitor works properly with the desktop.

Would like to bring this laptop into daily use with the larger monitor. Right now the laptop is not so useful to me without it.

Thank you.

poor HDMI connection or cable breakage. there can also be driver and graphics card-related issues. Check this:

    1. Loose connection, wiggle the HDMI plug in both ports to see if that affects the monitor.

    2. The HDMI cable is broken, try a new HDMI cable.

    3. A defective SODIMM, take the DDR4 cards out and firmly secure back in the slots or try another module if you have one.

    4. You’ve chosen the wrong display mode in Windows Multi Displays, try Detect other displays.

    5. Outdated or bad graphics driver, uninstall the display driver in Safe Mode with DDU and reboot.

It's a new HDMI cable. I tried two. Wiggled plugs. When I select Detect other displays, there are no results. The laptop is new, purchased in August and gifted to me for Christmas. Acer states the laptop is out of warranty based on the serial number.

Got it, thank you for that link. Needed to change the input on the monitor. After that, smooth sailing. The laptop is up and running properly.
