The touchpad does not work on my Acer Nitro 5. In general, I have had problems with it for a long time, it stopped working at random moments, but previously it was simple solution - turn it off and on using the Fn+F7 keys (I don't know if it matters, but just turn it off and on didn't work, I had to press touchpad a few times when it was off and the turn it on, otherwise it didn't work), but recently it stopped working and the classic method did not help. Well, I read a bit and found a way to uninstall the drivers, reboot laptop and they should automatically reinstall. That's what I did, in the device manager I removed the touchpad driver from the "Human interface devices" category and one of the drivers from the "Mice and other devices" category, which was also responsible for the touchpad. And after the reboot, everything worked. But after some time the problem reoccurred, so I decided to do the same, but this time after removing and rebootting, the drivers did not appear. So I went to the Acer website and downloaded the appropriate drivers for the touchpad, installed them and it worked again. The problem appeared two more times, but then I removed the previously mentioned drivers from the device manager and reinstalled the downloaded ones. It worked, but eventually stopped. Currently, the driver installation does not work, deleted drivers from device manager no longer appear, the touchpad does not work, and I am at a dead end and I don't know what to do next.
Check in BIOS if the Touchpad setting is 12C HID if it shows PS2 change that and save settings. I also recommend bringing the laptop to Acer Services in your country, there may be a loose/bad cable connection.
VHave you tried disconnecting the battery and touchpad connector from the motherboard?
I can't find Touchpad setting in BIOS. I guess it should be in advanced tab, right? But it isn't
And I think going to the Services is exactly what I will do
I haven't, because to be honest I'm not good with this kind of things, so I won't do anything with the insides myself, I think I will just go to the Acer Services
Good decision 😉
