Predator PO3-630 CPU overheating after cpu cooler replacement

As other users of this model pointed out, the cpu gets way too hot with its stock cooler. I replaced it with a noctua NH-U9S, which was recommended by everyone. Thermal paste, plugged in the fand and I'm still hovering around 90C on around 70% cpu usage. Im at a bit of a loss, because I can't use the warranty anymore, as it ran out. Only thing I noticed in CPU monitor, at 100% usage the cpu was drawing close to 230watts at peaks. Which seems way too high to what others say. Is it just a bad CPU?

I don't know which exact cpu your PO3-630 has (as you haven't told us) but the Intel 11 Gen Core i5 has a peak power consumption of 154 watts and Core i7 and i9 processors have a peak power consumption of 224 watts when running at its maximum boost frequency. The base TDP (PL1) indicates the CPU’s power draw at its base frequency, which is 65 watts.

Note: that the power consumption of a CPU can vary depending on the workload and other factors. The power consumption of a CPU at 100% usage will be higher than its base power consumption and the cpu are designed to run at those temps on your PO-630 desktop, as the i9-11900 (F) is up to 104C and the i7 11700 (F) and i5 11400 (F) is up to 100C.

How good of a job did you do with the new thermal paste when installing the Noctua? Too much or too little or uneven coverage can all give poor thermal transfer.

I have the i5 11400f, and as for the thermal paste, I just spread it with a clear plastic bag evenly. I'll maybe try to remaster the cpu, see if it helps

Make sure to use correct plastic spacers, because this sounds like a bad connection between the IHS and CPU.

Remove cooler and paste, apply a small drop in the middle of the IHS (or make a cross from corner to corner), and secure the cooler in place.

If the temps are still bad, remove the cooler and see that the paste is spread evenly and covers all of the IHS.
