I bought an Nitro AN17-51 2 days ago. Everything works fine. However, when I connect it to my usb c dock, it immediatly says no sound devices installed, and i have a little x on the sound icon in the system tray. I tried starting the Windows Audio service, but it keeps stopping. Event viewer shows a 7081 error in the system logs "the Windows Audio services terminated unexpectedly". I have tried updating the drivers, installing windows updates disabling the hdmi audio from my monitors, but when it's plugged into the dock the sound is completely dead and shows no devices installed, not speakers, not onboard, not headset.

Any help would be appreciated, or if you know of a multi monitor dock this won't happen with that would work as well.

The audio issue could be due to the default sound output device being changed to the docking station automatically when the laptop is connected to it . Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Sound.
    2. Click the Playback tab. Make sure the correct default audio device is selected. (For most users, the default audio device is Speakers.)
    3. If your default device isn’t set to the correct audio device, on the Playback tab, select the correct device, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and make sure that Default Format is set to the value that you expect. When finished, click OK.
    4. On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Configure, and then make sure the configurations are set correctly.

Thank you for trying, but the solution didn't work. I am going to try calling acer support on Friday otherwise i will be returning the product.

    Take care.
