I have read that you could upgrade to 64 gb of ram. well i tried and my rgb lights of the keyboard stop working. so i dropped down to 32gb of ram, same thing.  I went back to the original 16 and I got my rgb lights back on my keyboard.   I have also tried different brands of 32gb ram. crucial, g.skill ripjaw. and a couple others to no luck. But when I go back to the 16GB stock Samsung the lights start working again. I have updated the bios from the acer bios list. 1.13 or maybe its 1.31. i cant remember. i just know it was the latest. Any ideas?

Model: PHN16-71-73LT Part: NH.QMBAA.001

can someone tell me what's the deal?

You are not including the frequency of the SODIMMs that you are trying to install, your CPU is i7-13700HX that supports DDR5-4800MHz only and ACER BIOS does not support SODIMMs with XMP profile.

There is some ambiguity on the web, incl. on this forum, whether the MOBO supports 64GB RAM
https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/comments/18i0mi4/acer_predator_helios_neo_16_ram_upgrade/ Some users successfully upgraded to 64GB 4800MHz SODIMMs but apparently your laptop is limited to 16GB ram per slot. It may depend on the BIOS version.

The PHN16-71 laptop has the following memory specs and Acer does NOT recommend 64GB total ram (2x 32GB DDR5-4800Mhz modules) this laptop is NOT compatible with XMP or any overclocked ram and the reason why the rgb lights of your keyboard are not turning on with the 64GB or the 32GB ram is because you must have XMP ram installed, if you will install 32Gb (2x 16GB DDR5-4800MHz) of either Samsung or Micron ram listed below then your rgb lights will work.
