Hi,
I tried to restart the laptop after changing the settings in MSCONFIG (i.e change number of processors to max number). After shutting down it never started, I can see the ACER logo and a progress bar at the bottom (Phoenix) which is loaded around 75%. Its stuck there and didn't move at all.
I can see 'Press F2' to enter set up, but it doesn't work, there is no response from laptop. I tried a few things as listed below:
- Removed RAM and connected back
- Removed Hard disk and reseated to see if that made any changes
- Removed CMOS battery and waited for 15 to 30 minutes - reconnected it - no changes
- Tried to press Fn + Esc and then powered on with battery removed (after inserting windows 7 bootable disc). - No response
I am currently not in a position to take it to a service center and get it sorted. Please could someone help.
It would be great if anyone who faced this issue could help me using any soft methods rather than removing / soldering any chips or hardware parts.
I tried to check for my model number in the ACER website, but I couldnt find one. Also, I can see that Acer lets you download an driver updater software from their website. But without my ACER laptop turning on, i dont think those are useful for me to download and do anything other than the actual BIOS driver / updates.
To add to the complexity, I am not sure what version of BIOS was installed before this issue happened. It has some Nvidia graphics, but not sure which one exactly
Many Thanks,
JJ
