    They never state that the slots are GPU only in any documentation I've seen, but we've seen several users over the years who have run into it as a hurdle. IIRC always when they are trying to put an x4 or x8 card into the x16 slot. I believe the BIOS looks to see if the slot is populated and disables the onboard GPU if there is a card there, even if the card isn't a GPU.

    I was going to say "BINGO, that explains it". Then, I remembered that I can boot from the primary M.2 drive if I move it from the mobo to the PCIE slot and leave the mobo slot empty.

    It only fails when both drives are installed at the same time.
