Thunderbolt 3 Compatibility of Aspire TC-1660

Hello,

I have Aspire TC-1660 desktop, and this desktop has 1 USB-C port.

I wonder if this USB-C port is compatible with Thunderbolt 3.

If it is not supported, is it possible to add any Thunderbolt 3 PCIE card on the PCI Slot in this desktop?

Thunderbolt technology was integrated in the CPU starting with 11th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. Yours is 2020 (Gen 10) so no TB3. You will need to change the Intel chipset, but why, TB is mostly used in laptops for USB-C charging and display out?

The Aspire XC1660 desktop does not have a front Thunderbolt USB-C port, it has 2x front USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C Port to be used to connect USB3.2 Gen2 Type C devices. You can add a PCIe Thunderbolt 3 or 4 card to this desktops PCIe port, but to take full advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 or 4 bandwidth, you need to connect this card to the mobos PCIe16Х SLOT ONLY as then you will not be able to connect a dedicated gpu card, so that is the compromise. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

This is the mobo block diagram for the Aspire XC1660

@Puraw Thank you for the answer. From my short research, I found that 10th Gen Intel CPU supports Thunderbolt 3 technology. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I am looking for the solution of my Window PC for Audio Interface connection with Thunderbolt 3.

@StevenGen Thank you for the detail. I am not sure Aspire TC1660 also supports Thunderbolt 3, not XC1660.

IF so, Do you know the following Thunderbolt PCIe card is supported on Aspire TC 1660?

    • Asus ThunderboltEX 3
    • Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge 2.0

I was looking for the PCIe card from Acer. But I do not think Acer does not release the Thunderbolt 3 expansion PCie Card.
