Small video freezes for a few secs when doing certain tasks (ANV15-51)

Hello, I bought my Acer Nitro V a month ago and since then I have some problems with strange freezes that sometimes occurs when using the laptop.

For example, after the laptop has been turned off or restarted, the first time that I open the quick settings menu in Windows, the laptop freezes for 3-5 seconds when the animation starts. I can't even move the cursor.

In other occasions, these strange freezes occurs when using Edge or doing some task that require some loading/animations. Luckily, I've never encountered this problem when playing games.

I have updated Windows 11, the drivers (provided by the Acer website and the disk located in WINDRIVER) and even doing a clean install of Windows 11. My laptop comes with a Nvidia RTX 3050 and I tried installing both the Acer driver and the Nvidia driver provided in their website, but the freezes still occur.

I only managed to fix the problem by installing the latest Intel video driver available on their website. Unfortunately, since the driver isn't enhanched for the laptop, standby doesn't work properly and the screen remains black after wake-up. I was forced to turn off the laptop from the power button and reinstall the original Intel driver provided by Acer.

So I think this freeze occur because the Intel driver needs to be updated, but the Acer support provides only one Intel driver for my laptop (31.0.101.4146, dated 2023/09/05).

Any thoughts?

Bring/send the laptop to Acer Services in your country to reset the system to factory defaults, you should never have installed 3rd-party drivers and a Clean install of Windows11 on a brand-new system is unwise. You should have simply uninstalled all Bloatware, non-Windows programs and trial versions, next time ask in this community what to install and how to disable tips and widgets in Windows11 and Edge.

It seems like you’re experiencing video freezes on your Acer Nitro V ANV15-51. This could be due to a variety of reasons, such as outdated drivers, high disk usage, or issues with certain tasks that require loading/animations1. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Update Your Drivers: Ensure your drivers are up-to-date. This includes the drivers for your graphics card (Nvidia RTX 3050 in your case) and other components1.
Check Disk Usage: High disk usage can cause freezes. Open the Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) and check the disk usage. If it’s frequently hitting 100%, this could be the cause of the problem1.
Change Power Settings: Go to Power Options in the Control Panel and set your power plan to High Performance1.
Clean Boot: Perform a clean boot to eliminate software conflicts. This involves disabling non-Microsoft services and startup programs1.
If these steps don’t resolve your issue, you may want to consider resetting your system to factory defaults or seeking help from Acer’s customer support1. Remember to back up your data before making any major changes to your system. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask! 😊
