My Chromebook is CB315-3HT. It seems to be slower then in past, mostly with photos editing. Right now I erased all downloaded items and after that I even reinstaled it to factory settings.

But absolutelly nothing changed to the better - see picture. Acer support team in Czechia could not help me.

  1. Is it normal?
  2. What processes ocupies the memory? Can it be found out?
  3. Is it possible to clear a part of memory?

Thanks.

Here are some tips to speed up your Acer Chromebook 315 CB315-3HT and use less RAM:

Use the Task Manager: Much like a Windows computer, Chrome OS has a built-in task manager. It offers a glimpse of what your system is currently doing. If you’re having sudden system issues, this is the best place to start. You can access it by clicking the Chrome menu button, jumping down to the “More Tools” menu, and then choosing the “Task Manager” option. You can also just hit Search+Escape on your keyboard.

Get Rid of Old Extensions and Apps: The more extensions and apps you have installed, the more things that are running in the background. This can slow down your Chromebook and use up more RAM. Consider removing any extensions or apps that you no longer need.

Delete Unused Files: Chromebooks typically have limited storage, so the more things that are downloaded and stored locally, the slower the system will become as it gets close to capacity. Regularly deleting unused files can help keep your Chromebook running smoothly.

Powerwash Your Chromebook: If your Chromebook is still slow after trying the above steps, you might want to consider resetting it to its factory settings. This is known as “Powerwashing”. To Powerwash your Chromebook, head into the Chrome OS Settings menu, scroll to the bottom, and then click the “Advanced” button. After the advanced settings show up, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page again. In the “Reset Settings” section, click the “Powerwash” button.

Please remember to back up any important data before Powerwashing your Chromebook, as this process will erase all local data

How to use Zram in Chrome OS: You can enable it through the terminal with the command swap enable 2000. This command will add an additional 2 GB of Zram to your computer, while taking away 2 GB of local internal storage.

Please note that this is the recommended size suggested by Chrome OS developers, but if you wish, you can also swap a different amount. After enabling Zram, you will need to restart your Chromebook for the changes to take effect.
