PCIe compatibility for a Predator PO3-650, would PCIe Gen3 4 lanes work in the M2_2 slot?

I have a Toshiba SSD from a machine that just died for various reasons, but this drive is intact. Its sticker says "PCIe Gen3 4 lanes". Would this SSD work in the M2_2 slot on the Predator?

The exact model is PO3-650. Hopefully that won't make a difference but please let me know.

For your PO3-650 model, both M.2 slots are PCIe 4.0. You are good to go with the faster speed. With earlier versions either only one slot was 4.0 and the other 3.0 or both were 3.0. The 4.0 SSDs will work in a 3.0 slot, they just will run at the slower 3.0 speeds. Also it's worth noting that larger than 1TB drives will work fine, you can't buy a big enough drive to be too big for the software and hardware to work. I believe currently the limit to what you can buy is 8TB, but I expect 16TB drives aren't that far out…

Just to further assist you, here are all the PCIe4x4 M.2 SSD exact specs and drives that Acer lists and recommends for the Predator PO3-650 and PO3-650G desktops for their service guide.

Note: the fastest Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD drives are either the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe M.2 or the WD SN850X Black NVMe M.2 if you want to use the fastest drives for gaming and editing.
