Hi.

I have an Acer Aspire A514-55, which I bought new a few months ago. I have tried many times to calibrate the battery using Acer Care Center. Whenever I click the Calibrate now button under the Battery Calibration heading under the Checkup section it starts the calibration but then stops immediately and Last check says "None". I have tried clicking the button when the battery is low and when it is at 100% as the instructions I have seen in different places conflict.

I unistalled Acer Care Center and installed the latest version for the laptop model from Acer's website. What could be stopping the calibration from working? Thanks.

I recommend not using ACC as it does not run well in Windows11, even when you uninstall ACC you still have to delete the ACC services in the registry with Regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ and delete the Acer Care Center service or accSVC key on the left screen. Don't limit the battery charging with any bloatware, keep the power adapter plugged it 24/7 without any issues. If you have questions, ask this community. A new battery needs to be registered by your BIOS and MS ACPI drivers, some people call this "calibration", but it is performing a complete charge cycle that should be instructed in flyers from the vendor inside the battery box or in laptop user manuals. That only needs to be done once when a battery is replaced, a new laptop is turned on for the first time and after a Clean Windows installation or "Reset your PC losing all your files". Also recommended after BIOS is reset: First disable Hibernate and Fast Startup in Power Plan "Change what closing the lid does" and "Change settings that currently unavailable". Completely shut down the correct way clicking on the Start and power icon. close the lid and disconnect all external devices, monitors, usb adapters, etc., plug in the power adapter and let the laptop charge till the amber charge LED turns blue + an extra 5-10 minutes. Open the lid, boot to Windows and confirm that the battery is charged 100%. Unplug the power adapter and work with laptop all day till it turns off (system shuts down when battery is discharged to 2-4%). Close the lid and plug in the power adapter and charge again till the amber charge LED turns blue + 5-10 minutes. That it. 😉

    Hi Puraw, thanks for answering.

I take it from your reply that I need to do the following things:

    1. Uninstall Acer Care Center then remove the specified key in the registry
    2. Reset my BIOS and follow the steps from "First disable Hibernate and Fast Startup"… onwards

Have I read your reply correctly and need to do these exact tasks to get good time out of my battery? I don't believe I limit battery charging.

    Best wishes.
