I plugged a usb c augmented reality headset into the usb C. Nada!
Do I take it from this that my gaming laptop doesn't support -is it called- Displayport?
Anyway to upgrade it?

I also have a thinkpad and it works great but it's not as good graphically. :(

Your Nitro AN515-55 has these specs for the USB ports:

So you are correct, no Alt DP mode on the USB-C port, just as you can't charge the laptop using USB-C.
