Ram upgrade for Aspire 5. want to upgrade with a 16GB RAM on A515-57

I purchased an A515-57. It came with both RAM slots filled, each with 4GB stick. Can I replace just 1 slot with a 16GB stick now and run with 20GB for now and then later replace the other stick to bring the total Ram to 32GB. Does it matter which stick I replace first and are the any settings I should adjust?

YES you can add 1x 16GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 type ram module to the oem 4GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 existing ram module ONLY to give you a Dual Channel ram and a speed of 3200MHz running ram,

Note: you can only add/upgrade the same spec ram like a 1x 4GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 + a 1x 16GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 type ram to get a Dual Channel ram running at a speed of 3200MHz, as and if the existing 4GB ram is DDR4-2666MHz speed and you add a 1x 16GB DDR4-3200Mhz speed ram the ram will run at the lowest speed ram at a total of 20GB at DDR4-2666Mhz, so be aware of these factors when upgrading ram.

These are the specs and combinations for the Aspire A515-57 laptops ram:

Note: This laptop has a BOOT JSSD 1 of a Gen4x4 drive and its SALVE JSSD2 of a Gen 3x4 M.2 SSD drives.

Thanks for the info. To clarify, the laptop currently has 2 existing ram modules 4GB PC4-3200AA 3200Mhz SO-DIMM. So according to the chart, I can replace either of those with a 16GB module of same spec and then later on (if I need a performance boost) I can similarly replace the other 4GB ram as well? No worries about which one is primary and/or system management as long as the specs match? Just wanted to double check that because I have had blue screen issues with my desktop PC after attempting to rearrange the 2 ram sticks (purchased as a kit) when 2 of the 4 slots got damaged during a move.

I also plan to add an additional SSD drive to the laptop but that seemed more straightforward since I'm just adding the drive to an empty slot vs swapping an existing part. The JSSD1 has a 512G WD PC SN740 NVMe SSD and I've ordered a Crucial P3 Plus 500GB PCIe Gen4 M.2 SSD for the empty port. (It was actually priced better than the Gen3 SSDs I looked at.)
