How to connect/activate Intel HD Graphics 3000 in Acer Aspire 7750G mainboard?

Hi there,

I have an 7750G model about 10 years old. As the main graphic chip RadeonHD 6850M is defective (only black screen, no vga or hdmi signal on the ports) I wnat to use Intel HD graphics 3000 which is integrated in the Sandy Bridge processor. A processor test performed by Intel processor test tool showed no HD Graphics 3000 detected and referred to the fact that another graphic chip is onbard. So I guess the HD Graphics 3000 is not connected. But it MUST be present as all sources say it is necessarily integrated. I know of other Aspire Models which use both e.g. NVIDIA and IntelHD.

So my question is: how to activate IntelHD3000? Where is the port on the mainboard? Is there any? Why wasn't it connected in the first place?

Greetings

Mr.M.

Disable the dGPU adapter in Device Manager and check if RAM is running in Dual Channel mode that may help to activate Intel HD graphics. The device supports DirectX 11.1 but not very good: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/hd-graphics-3000.c1257

hi there, thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I can't do non of that because I just can't see anything. Neither the display works nor any ports for external screens. Black is black…And as the intel processor test tool detected no gpu i have to assume it is just not wired on the board what amazes me cause other acer models use dgpu as well as igpu together. In the past it never showed up in device manager and there was also no option in bios to switch the gpu. Would someone with the same model approve the fact? On the net one can easily find the document ACER ASPIRE 7750 7750G 7750Z COMPAL LA-6911P P7YE0 P7YH0 P7YS0 REV 0.3 SCH with the wiring plans. I just cannot read them. Maybe some kind soul can read the processor chapter and find out if there is a connector for the igpu near there?

    Thanks so far.

    Greetings Mr.M.

Hi there, I guess the goal is unachievable. I read the document and - though the igpu is wired - it seems the manufacturer has disabled it via bto options. there is a bto option table on page 3 (if I am right bto means "built to order" and refers to options the manufacturer can set for the hardware configuration on the board.

How this is done is a mystery to me though. Maybe a look at page 30 could help but I cannot read the wiring. there are bom options but I have not found out yet what "bom" means in regard to mainboards (generally: bill of materials). So if one kind soul with experience in micro electronics could look that up?
