My A315-53G-517P shuts down if I don't press any key

Hello,

My A315-53G-517P no longer turns on using the power button. I have to press any other button to start it, and I have to keep a key pressed, or the laptop shuts down. This worked for a few days, then it didn't turn on at all. No keys respond, but the charging light comes on when I plug in the charger. I tried the battery reset by inserting a pin into the hole at the back for 30 seconds, and now the computer still starts with other keys except the power button.

I no longer have a warranty, and despite my research, I haven't found any solution. Some say it's a hardware problem with the keyboard, but I've seen many messages saying the problem comes back after several days/weeks even after replacing the keyboard. I tested the keyboard on a keyboard checker website, and it recognizes all keys, including the power button, so I don't understand why it doesn't work once the computer is turned off.

I manage to keep the computer on by pressing a key with a toothpick, but I don't know if this method will work for long. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

The solution is to replace the keyboard. The keyboard circuit might be faulty which makes you have to hold a key for the laptop to stay on.

I agree that this is definitely hardware related and requires thoroughly checking of all contacts, switches, capacitors that deteriorate over time and the keyboard. I recommend bringing your laptop to Acer Services in your country. 😉

Thank you for your answers, so if I change the keyboard it will be fine and I won't have the problem again ?

Mostly, it will fix the problem of shutting down if you don't hold any keys.
