Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-52 black screen, has BSOD issue and local tech did not fix it

Hi all,

Recently my laptop has been BSOD-ing when I play higher performance games like RDR2, it would then restart itself into "No Bootable Device", but if I hit the power button again, the computer restarts and operates just fine. I looked this issue up which seems to be common and may have to do with the m.2 SSD on the laptop.

So I wanted to try one of the suggestions which is to reseat the SSD, however due to my mistake, I couldn't unscrew the metal plates on top of the SSD and I stripped the screw. I then took it to a local repair shop which managed to remove the metal plates, but in the process it seems they damaged the SSD holder and broke off a capacitor on top of the RAM next to it. This is ultimately my fault because I gave them permission to remove the plate, I just didn't think they would just brute force it this way.

I then get a call from them saying the screen doesn't show anything anymore, I took it home and tried a bunch of things like reseating the RAM, SSD, putting the SSD in the 2nd m.2 slot, removing the broken RAM and just using 1 RAM stick, only putting in a brand new SSD but nothing will make the screen boot to bios or anything but the keyboard's backlit works.

I also don't think the monitor is broken because when I connected it to an external monitor, it says no signal.

I'm beginning to think the motherboard or something else is damaged.

Also would damaging the SSD slot cause the laptop to not boot up even if I have another working slot?

That M.2 SSD drive cover plate and its M2x3.0 screw, should ONLY be on SSD2 drive and NOT SSD1 boot M.2 SSD drive. The below caption is what Acer shows in the PH315-52 service guide.

But WOW that M.2 slot caption above is unbelievable (btw, the above caption is how your M.2 slots should look like) as how can any technician do a job like that? As your laptop has been butchered and its M.2 SSD1 boot slot has been damaged beyond repair as when he damaged the M.2 slot he broke the capacitor off the ram module with the M.2 SSD metal cover WOW that is really BAD!

If you can't hold the technician or the computer shop responsible, which you 100% should! The only fix is to take your laptop to a technician that has the expertise, parts and micro soldering equipment and knowledge (don't take it to that same technician that you have, as he has no idea what he's doing) so that an experienced technician can repair the M.2 slot and check the traces and pins of the M.2 slot and mobo if they are damaged and fix them. You can't do this job yourself, so don't even attempt to do it, as you will do more damage.

If not then you need to get a new mobo, and do components swap yourself, which is not hard and you can do that easily yourself and then you will only be up for the mobo cost. So, get the exact mobo Acer part number off your old mainboard and look for a new mobo online, as this model laptop had 20 different model mainboards that should be pretty easy to get and should be reasonably priced, so look at eBay, Amazon, ZANDPARTS or AliExpress etc retailers.
