Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52-550V Keyboard Malfunction keys just stop working again.

I found an old, locked thread about this issue, and it seems like I'm far from alone experiencing this issue.

A set of keys (I haven't memorised them, but 2, k, and back are among them) only works for a few seconds now and then. I can long press for 30-60 seconds to maybe get a response eventually, and when and if I do I can hurry and type quickly for a few seconds before the same keys just stop working again.

The laptop has been well maintained since I purchased it in 2017, and it has not been subjected to rough usage. It has had a lot of long breaks on the job, and I would expect an electronic device in this price class to still work relatively flawlessly after the usage pattern and age it is. Any errors I'd accept would be spin disk related, or some thermal paste needing replacement - not keys on the gently treated keyboard randomly stop working. That is unacceptable, even long after warranty is over and void.

I see people have very varying results from the tips I've read so far. Replacing keyboard, battery reset, reseating ribbon (that for some reason seems to become loose for many people and not really fit snug into the slot?), cleaning components with a toothbrush, media keys, etc. It seems to sometimes help some people for a couple of hours before the problem reoccurring, no matter what they've tried.

Is this some sort of built in self destruct in order to make people purchase more devices? I can't afford that, and I like to get as much use out of my devices as I can. That's how I class quality and make a decision on where to spend my money when I eventually need to replace something.

I'm still using my laptop, and with the holidays coming up, I am expecting to use it more than usual.

I, and everyone else with this issue, need a fix ASAP, because this is not okay.

And no, it's not a driver issue. I uninstalled drivers and even did a clean windows install losing all my software and random files in order to try to fix this issue. It made zero difference.

Did anyone ever find a permanent solution to this, or do I just get rid of the laptop and steer away from Acer in the future?

I'm asking because I've been doing my fair share of maintenance inside of that machine, and it's a hassle to open it up and do things due to the weird designs (disk bay, why would they put you on the outside of the first cover and make the cable ribbon go through a hole where anyone will almost certainly break you when opening it up for the first time??), so I'm not about to embark on that dreary task unless someone can guarantee a fix for this issue.

I realize it's not a new device, but like I've said, I've treated it with the utmost care and made sure it's always been clean, dry and safe, and in addition I haven't been pushing it in any way, so it has never overheated and there are no traces of heat under the covers. I would fully expect the keyboard to be working as intended even after 6 years

Nothing lasts forever, especially things made by humans😀even if they are made of nondestructive plastic materials, you have to appreciate that a keyboard key is made up of many components that can go wrong as the plastic materials are not made of the same plastic compositions, and a keyboard keys needs to be used for it to not get stuck and deteriorate over time. A 6-year-old laptop especially if its not used much, the climatic conditions would affect its components and that is what happened to your Nitro AN515-52. So, get a new keyboard, as they are sold separately on eBay, Amazon for a reasonable price.
