I have the 64gb version and with just the bare bones win 10 install (then upgraded to win11 yesterday) and the preinstalled bloatware which doesn't take up much space I have around 18gb of free space. I don't want to have the hassle of a USB flash drive poking out or an external HDD either for more storage space. It has a micro SD / SDXC slot but I don't know what the max size that I can use is.

What is the max capacity of SD or SDXC cards I can use? I don't want to go buy a 500gb SD or SDXC only to find out it isn't supported and then return the card and try the next size(s) down till one works. Also what generation and speeds are the latest supported too. It would suck if I bought the latest and greatest only to have it trundle along at a lower speed due to the controller. I can't find anything on the specs page anywhere that mentions these things.

Thanks for your help.

64GB RAM is awesome, it is not so much the resources bloatware, trial versions and 3d-party AV/browsers use but the havoc they may cause in W11 23H2 registry and interference with Windows11 Wau updater. Wait for responses from others on your SD question.

It's not 64gb RAM. It's 64gb SSD that is built into the motherboard same as the ram is and cannot be upgraded. So I want to maximize the size of the micro SD SDXC card for storage. The rest of what you said sounds impressive but has absolutely nothing to do with what I was asking. And I fail to see how anything could have issues with the 23H2 as it sits dormant right now and doesn't interact with anything. 22H2 is what is being used. Anyway, thanks for stopping by… I think.

Sorry, I had the wrong model, you wrote you upgraded to W11 and the latest Windows11 version is 23H2. 😑

The SP111-33 models have the ability to have a 2.5" HDD/SSD installed in addition to the eMMC drive. Especially since eMMC drives are prone to failure after a few years, I'd suggest putting something like a 1TB SSD in there, cloning the existing drive to it, then setting it as your boot drive and wiping the existing drive. You'll be better off in the long run, and that size of drive is quite reasonably priced.

I checked my motherboard and it doesn't have a SATA port anywhere on it that an SSD could connect to. Nor does it have a RAM slot either. I did see that some of the Spin series did have a SATA port that an SSD could connect to but mine doesn't. I guess I will just have to do the trial and error with SD SDXC cards starting with largest and fastest latest generation and hope that it supports it and bump it down in size and performance until it is recognized by the OS. It seems strange that there isn't any literature regarding the max size and speeds etc… for the computer. It is common for micro SD SDXC slots to only support certain iterations and sizes of cards. On tablets and phones at least. Personally I haven't ever had a laptop that came with a micro SD SDXC slot before.

The SATA connector uses a little ribbon cable to reach the HDD/SSD:

I don't believe they included a cable with any models that didn't come with a HDD, and models that had a HDD were not offered in the US, so I can't access a parts list for them.

that arrow pointing to the board doesn't resemble a connector it looks like wire tracing lines. Also the touchpad conn arrow is pointing to the battery conn and battery conn is pointing above the conn. The arrows you put onto the pics are not very accurate.

Also ctp+gc (whatever that is, closest I came to answering that was that you are referring to a connector type not a device or component) is the wifi adapter. Very confusing. I guess to anyone that has little idea about computers would just accept these answers and assume that this sort of stuff is just way over their heads and to send it in t be fixed as the answers aren't relevant nor are they even factual. But I do know computers, at least better thana average. I used to fix them for over 20yrs stopping 6yrs ago so am a little out of the loop but not so much that I won't question the info that is being given when it seems off.

machv5 the caption that billsey has provided you above is from the Spin SP111-33 Jumper and Connector Locations from its service guide and those arrows and markings are from Acer from the service guide, and its not specifically put there by billsey, as he has shown you that mainboard caption as a guide. Please be more appreciative for the help that you get with any captions from the official Acer SG that is provided for you machv5😅.

This is the Spin SP111-33 with the 2.5" SATA drive as illustrated by Acer

Here are all the SG diagrams of the Spin SP111-33 mobo that is in its SG and component descriptions, so you figure it out for yourself if you know so much about this laptop, good luck and hope this is more of an assistance to you, good luck:

As you surmise, the arrows Acer put on that diagram aren't quite where they should be. It looks like they should be all shifted down toward the bottom edge of the motherboard, based on the picture showing the drive that Steven shows.
