Hi, I just got an AN16-51 laptop and the battery is not charging. When disconnected to the power outlet the battery discharges as expected but when plugged in it will not charge, just stay in the same number.

Has anyone had this issue and solved it? Already uninstalled battery drivers in device manager, drained power and restarted, with no improvement.

Search 'Acer Care Center' in Win start menu. Click 'Acer Care Center' near top of menu. Follow instructions to calibrate battery as in this link. Also disable battery charge limiter if available. Limiters do little or nothing for battery health. Makes the user feel better though if he or she believes they do. 🙂

Your laptop includes 2 USB-C ports that support Thunderbolt4 with PD, are you using a 65-Watt USB-C charger, or the 230-Watt "brick" power adapter plugged in the DC barrel port? If you are using a USB-C charger I recommend at least a 90-Watt charger with a fixed thick HD USB-C cable. Any of these USB-C laptop chargers will work: https://www.zdnet.com/article/best-usb-c-laptop-charger/

If you are not using a USB-C charger, the (new) battery capacity was probably not yet registered by BIOS and Windows, Uninstall (recommended) or disable Acer Care Center options and any other battery monitoring limiting bloatware, shut down the laptop, remove all USB devices/external monitors. Connect the "brick" power adapter to a good electrical (grounded) wall socket without using an extension cord or plug adapter and plug in the power adapter barrel plug in your DC port. let the battery charge (without using the laptop) till the amber charge LED turns blue and wait 10 minutes. Boot to Windows and unplug the power adapter, work with your laptop (on battery only) till it shuts down automatically, (2-4% charge left), close the lid and plug in the power adapter, charge till the amber charge LED turns blue and you have completed a full charge cycle required for all new batteries only once.
