The computer is only about 2 years old but gets used regularly.

I have to shut it down with the power button to restart it and then it works fine for several days.

Does anyone have any ideas what the cause might be?

The computer has a solid state drive. I don't know if that's an issue.

Thanks for any help.

Hi @JeffW2015 It is possible, but it would be necessary to check, that the noise is produced by a malfunction of the fan and as a consequence, the equipment heats up and freezes.
Can you check if the fan is working correctly?

    All the best.

I believe a fan IS malfunctioning because I here a constant humming when the computer is turned on.

And I believe your answer is likely correct. I didn't think of that. I'll have to check into it.

Thank you very much for your help.

Monitor your temperatures with real time utilities like SPECCY OR manually check your fan for noise while rotating manually.

Also monitor the fan speed. My TC-895 is 196 RPM and temps are averaging 80 degrees F.

Very cool today and light use.

I plan to open and clean out the computer next week. It works fine most of the time so I'm not too worried about it right now. Might actually do it over the weekend.

Thanks to both of you for the input.
