The Nitro 5 AN515-55 has these Storage Subsystem specs below for its M.2 SSD drives and its 2.5" SATA III drive. At Storage 1 its a PCIe3x4 M.2 SSD drive and its the laptops boot drive which you should be populating with the fastest drive of either a PCIe3x4 or even a PCIe4x4 type M.2 SSD like the WD SN770 or even the SN850X (as the Gen 4 M.2 SSD are backward compatible and will be advantageous in case of an upgrade to a newer laptop later on) so consider that and fit a Gen 4 if you will be doing that in the near future, as I've got a 1TB Gen 4 x4 WD SN850X that has a Sequential Read: 7300MB/s and Sequential Write: 6300MB/s but I'm just about to upgrade next year to the new Predator PH18-71 which has a PCIe4x4 all around and having this Gen 4 drive will be a good and perfect M.2 SSD as its been a proven tested and will be just a plug and play Gen 4 M.2 SSD into the new Predator PH18-71 laptop, which this Gen 4 drive has also given me the ultimate PCIe3x4 speed on my Nitro AN515-56 laptop.

In my opinion, you should be fitting the fastest Gen 3 M.2 SSDs at the least for the AN515-55 laptop like either the PCIe3x4 1TB WD SN750 NVMe Black M.2 SSD drive or a PCIe3x4 1TB Samsung 970 Plus EVO NVMe and in Storage 2 with the same type of drives, that is if you are playing games and also it depends on your budget, and in the 3rd drive space, you should be fitting with a 2.5" SATA III drive like the Samsung 870 EVO SSD, the above list and drive setup list is the best and quickest drive setup for your Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

For RAM fit the full 32GB capacity of memory into the AN515-55 laptop 2x RAM slots, which consists of fitting 2x 16GB DDR4-3200Mhz CL22 type RAM, use the below listened RAM that Acer has tested and recommends ONLY for your laptop:

Use 2x 16GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 16GB for a total of 32GB of one of these modules below, don't use other modules as you will eventually have problems with them.

    • HYNIX SO-DIMM DDRIV 3200 16GB HMAA2GS6AJR8N-XN LF+HF AL prime - Acer part #: KN.16G0G.035

If you only want to add an additional 1x 8GB DDR4 ram DIMM module, then install CPUz and look in its SPD section for the exact ram specs of the 1x 8GB DDR4 ram that you have, as this laptop has either 8GB DDR4-2666MHz or 8GB DDR4-3200Mhz modules. These are all the DDR4 8GB modules fitted to your laptop, I've highlighted only the DDR4-3200MHz modules which are the fastest:

When you upgrade just 1x RAM module, its best that you exactly match the same manufacturer and the part number of the ram module that Acer has fitted into your laptop. If you can't do that or that ram module is not available, then put the other matching ram module from other manufacturers in the list above. That is how you upgrade the ram properly or put a 2x 16GB KIT as that is the ultimate upgrade as both ram modules are a matching pair from the manufacturer and will operate exactly the same in dual channel, which is what is best for ultimate performance of memory for a PC.
