Can the Aspire E5-475 be upgraded with an m.2 NVME SSD?

I recently upgraded my aspire e5-475. I took out the original HDD (which had become horribly slow) and installed a new 500GB NVME drive; I wasn't sure if it was going to be compatible and was getting conflicting information online. Some were saying only SATA3 would work

Just to pay it forward in case someone else has the same question, this HAS worked and the E5-475 CAN run off an m.2 NVME! I thought the motherboard might be too old, but it's apparently PCIe 3.0 x2 so can support it. I used the Crucial P3 500GB M.2 PCIe Gen3 CT500P3SSD8 and it's drastically improved performance. Here's a before & after:

Also ran a benchmark if you're interested comparing how it performs: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/65687970

I was also thinking of upgrading the RAM to 16GB (currently have 1x8GB), but I wasn't sure if it's ok to install different brands/types; would it cause problems if they don't match?

Thanks!
