Can I upgrade RAM on Acer Aspire 514-55?

I have seen some sources say that I can, and some that I can't. I'm really unsure at this point, I really want to run a game that has 8gb ram as a minimum requirement, unfortunately my model only has 8gb ram at the moment. Is it possible to upgrade or use a USB drive as ram?

Yes, you definitely can upgrade RAM to 20GB if you have 4GB soldered on the motherboard or up to 24GB if 8GB is soldered, you should open the bottom cover and check if the replaceable RAM socket is empty which means 8GB DDR4 is soldered and then I recommend that you add another 8GB DDR4 exactly with the same specifications as the soldered module (forming a kit 2x 8GB=16GB) that will run in Dual Channel mode at maximum clock speed 2667 MHz. The Aspire 5 514 and 515 models come with 4 and 8 GB Ram soldered on the motherboard in different countries. To find out details of the soldered RAM you can run CPU-Z or the Windows WMIC command: wmic memorychip list full
Look for part number, speed and manufacturer and order/buy exactly the same DDR4 module.

You can use "ReadyBoost" to increase your RAM with a USB flash drive, but I am not sure that will work in Windows11 23H2 and USB flash is much slower than RAM:

Yes, you can upgrade memory in this model, you need to check whether you have a 4GB or 8GB onboard memory, use CPU-z to find out in Memory tab and SPD tab.

If you have 4GB onboard memory, you can replace the 4GB removable RAM with a 16GB DDR4 3200MHz module, if you have 8GB onboard memory, you can install a 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM in the empty slot, make sure that you avoid RAM with XMP profile because they are not suitable for your model.
