I bought an Acer Nitro ED270U monitor which is 1440P 170HZ. On my xbox series S if I try to set 1440P @ 120HZ it says resolution not supported, and puts me at 1440P @ 60HZ. Is this because I need an HDMI 2.1 cable? Or does the monitor itself need to have an HDMI 2.1 port? Or are there some setting in the monitor I need to set?

This is because the Xbox Series S does not support that. It can do 1440p at 60fps and 1080 at 120fps. Certain games have different capabilities though.
