I cant able to connect my laptop to SA272UE monitor via USB-C to HDMI connector. For some reason,

1. If i connect via laptop HDMI port to Monitor HDMI port, it works (Extends & Duplicates)

2. If i connect via laptop USB-C (using USB-C to HDMI convertor) to Monitor HDMI port, it dosent work. However, it Duplicates the Laptop screen but does not extends.

I remember connecting the first time (2nd method) and it worked. but when i unplugged and plugged again, it did not work.

Any help here pls?

Check with the HP community if your USB-C port supports Video out, the port has Thunderbolt but Video out is not mentioned.

Your HP EliteBook 840 G6 laptop specifically says in its manual that its USB Type –C power connector and Thunderbolt port with HP Sleep and Charge - Connects to a display device that has a USB-C connector, providing DisplayPort output and NOT a HDMI that is why you are having those problems. To get Extends & Duplicate, you need to use either a USB-C to a USB-C cable (which you can't use) to connect the monitor but you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable as it will work, you can't use a USB-C to HDMI cable.

That is why, if you connect via laptop HDMI port to Monitor HDMI port, it works (Extends & Duplicates) HDMI port NOT to your laptops USB-C Thunderbolt port.

The Acer SA272UE monitor supports DisplayPort, buy a USB-C Thunderbolt to DisplayPort cable and use that cable to connect the external monitor to your HP laptop.
