Hello Acer Forums! My new Acer A315-51 laptop is unusably slow right out of the box. Pretty much every action carries a significant delay, including- typing, clicking, moving the mouse, opening a new window, opening a new app, using the Windows 11 Menus, etc. Task Manager shows chrome and McAffee taking up ~50% of the system memory, but closing these software does not reduce lag. I have not downloaded any apps other than Google Chrome, and windows defender reports no viruses. This morning, I restarted the laptop. After it updated, it ran perfectly smoothly. However, after I restarted it again, the lag returned, and a third restart improved nothing. Does anyone have any ideas for how I can address this major lag issue? Thank you very much!

Possibly Windows11 is updating and upgrading to 23H2 and depending what the last update was, that may take a while, also all other apps and bloatware on your laptop are trying to back-up your system to cloud or update consuming a lot of resources.

Uninstall Chrome, Mcafee, Office trial version and all bloatware, check in Task Manager Processes what is running that you don't need. Open Storage Sense and purge caches and redundant files, click on the Temporary Bin (bottom left side Storage Sense window) and it may find 100s GB old update records like OldDos that you should delete.

If after this the system still lags send it back to the retailer within 15 days of delivery and demand a new unit.
