Hi Community:

We need to use a USB Wifi 6 compatible adapter for our Aspire R13. We bought a QGOO, but we can't get the device recognized by Windows 10 (we have upgraded the OS to Windows 10). Is there a recommended brand we should be using? Or is there something we can do (like add a driver) for the QGOO AX1800 we already own? The QGOO shows up as follows in "View Hardware an Connection Properties: "Not Operational". The Description is "Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter. There is an assigned IPv6 address as well as an IPv4 address. But it isn't working.

We're grateful for any help on this one.

Thanks

You can't upgrade this laptop to the WLAN 6 type AX card or standard as your R13 has an 802.11AC type card which is the previous-generation wireless networking standard which is also known as Wi-Fi 5. 802.11AC. Your QGOO AX1800 modem is backward compatible so you don't have to have the latest 802.11AX Wi-Fi 6 WLAN which has a faster data transfer speed and multi-device connectivity improvements.

Note: don't attempt to change your R13s WLAN/BT Acer supplied existing card as its antenna wires plugs on the black/white which are the MAIN/AUX antennas are very tiny and are not made to be unplugged too many times, as you will have problems replunging them back and then you will have a huge job of having to get new antenna wires and rewire these antenna wires around the screen.

These are all the WLAN/BT cards fitter to your R13 laptop and as you can see they are all AC Wi-Fi 5 type cards and not AX Wi-Fi 6

Hi and thank you for your reply. I am asking specifically about an external Wifi 6 adapter to be connected to the Acer Aspire R13 via one of the 3 USB ports. The QGOO AX11800 modem is not working with this machine. Is there a different brand of USB WiFi 6 backwards compatible modem known to work with this laptop? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
