My relatively new Acer Aspire 5 Laptop | A515-56 has an erratic touchpad. How can I make it function more like my old Acer Aspire E5-772-35M, which I used for nearly 8 years? I purchased the Aspire 5 about a year ago because my old Acer was in poor condition. Initially, I struggled to adapt to Windows 11 and the new laptop, especially the touchpad. I've lost numerous forms due to unintentional movements while typing, as I am doing in this forum. I kept reverting to my old, familiar laptop.

I had improved the performance of the old laptop by performing a repair install of Windows 10, and it worked reasonably well. Although I've become more acquainted with Windows 11, I believe I should be using the new laptop and making it work for me. However, I'm unsure how to configure the touchpad to mimic my old one.

Windows11 installs MS Precision drivers for your Touchpad so it will never have the same behavior of a Windows8.1 platform. If you followed the many guidelines on the web how to set the touchpad gestures in Windows10-11 and still find it erratic, uninstall the drivers in Device Manager including the 12C HID driver, make sure internet is working and just reboot, Windows11 will reinstall the MS Precision drivers.
