The last time I ran my Acer Aspire computer, I got the blue screen of death. When I turned the computer on again, I saw nothing on my screen. I didn't even see the Acer logo. I'm assuming my hard drive crashed and I just need a new one. But I wasn't sure. Do you think anything else has been damaged in my computer?

2016 laptop, yes 7 years could well be the limit for a mechanical HDD, if used daily. You should still be able to boot to BIOS with F2 if the HDD is bad. Check that first, In BIOS see on the first screen if HDD0 is detected correctly with your drive type/brand. If that is OK it may be the RAM (see the DDR4 module at the right side of the picture below). Open the back of the laptop and unlock the module then take it out and reseat it again firmly in the slot, secure the DDR4 bracket till you hear a loud click. Close the laptop and try to boot.

Try another DDR4 module if still no results.

Just in addition, as in your Aspire R15 Model # N16P2 this laptops has provisions for an M.2 SSD drive which you can use a PCIe3x4 M.2 SSD as its boot drive as its allot quicker than a 2.5" HDD or SSD drive, as that is the best setup for this laptop if you want to spend money on it, as you mechanical drive seems like its Kaput as the saying goes😂, below are your laptops storage specs so utilize them fully.

I finally received my hard drive and a new stick of RAM. I installed both parts. When I reattached the power supply and turned my computer on, nothing appeared on my screen. I tried pressing F2 but nothing happened. Could it be that my computer monitor is malfunctioning or could it be that my graphics card has failed? Or is it possible that I need to replace my CR2032 battery? I just don't know at this point.

    Hi,

When you power on, do you see backlit illumination on the screen or it's dead black as if no power is received?

Try to reseat all parts. Remove the battery and long press power button for 30 seconds to clear board of any static charges. Recheck again.

I unplugged the battery when I installed all the new parts. I was afraid of an electrical surge. I see nothing but a black screen when I power on my computer.

I forgot to mention that the computer will only turn off if I open the laptop. If won't turn off if the laptop is closed. This wasn't the case when my computer was working properly.

I found my very long HDMI cable and I plugged it into my Acer laptop. Then I plugged the other end into my flat screen television. Nothing displayed on my television. I suspect that either the four gigs of RAM sodered on my motherboard may not be functioning. Or it could be the CR2032 battery. It could also be the wire that attaches my motherboard to my monitor. Those should be rather easy to fix. Otherwise, I could be looking at some expensive repairs.
