My laptop is 7 months old bought new from official reseller in Mauritius and frame opened at right top corner with deformation of hinge + bottom cover opening. Reseller tells me it felt. There are no scratches nor evidence it felt. I have the normal warranty + took the extra 2 years extended warranty which they refuse to trigger. Totally disappointed about my 1st (and last?) Acer experience…. What shall i do?

Learn to live with it, careful opening the lid, best to leave the lid open as much as possible as the hinge is misaligned and may get stuck or difficult to open, putting too much force on the hinge screw flanges at the bottom front panel bezel. This can cause cracking of the panel or even worse, the screen. Avoid flexing the lid at all times, always open in the middle and you should be OK. A new lid and hinge assembly repair by Acer Services in the US will cost $200 plus.

Acer will likely replace the case halves under warranty. The issue is caused by the screws holding the hinge in place pulling loose from the case. This happens with almost all "thin and light" laptop designs, since the cases have to be too thin to give a solid foundation for the screw. The long term solution is to always be careful when opening, open slowly and from the center to keep from providing any side stress on the screws. The fix once warranty has expired is to use a good metal epoxy to rebuild those mounts stringer than they were before.
