After you set a BIOS supervisor password you should clear that as soon as possible to avoid issues you had. You wrote that the password is cleared now but BIOS is still greyed out? Try once more to set a different supervisor password, save settings on exit and reboot to BIOS with F2, enter the new BIOS password and press F9 to reset BIOS, save settings on exit and reboot again to BIOS with F2. If still greyed out, clear your BIOS password, save settings on exit and bring the laptop to Acer Services in your country to reset BIOS or reprogram the EPROM. Alternatively, if the Acer warranty already expired, you can open the back of your laptop with a precision laptop screwdriver set (PC DIY shop) and do the following: disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard. Locate the CMOS module (with 2 twisted wires Red and Black) and remove the coin battery. Shorten the +/- contacts inside the CMOS capsule for 2 seconds with a bended paperclip and put the coin battery back with the + sign facing up, close the CMOS capsule. Reconnect the battery cable and close the back of the laptop. Boot to BIOS with F2 and see if the options are no longer greyed out.
