So it's ok to have a computer that in idle with just the browser open is operating at 84 degree celcius?? and when you try to play a simple game it starts working bad because of the temperature… I think this a build issue from Asus, i have the same specs pc from Asus and it doesn't have this issues… If people request undervolt to solve their problems and use their expensive computers i think asus should answer.

    1. I have my PH16-71 running cooler since I finally got my Predator Sense running more stable!
    2. When temperatures increase, I check if Pr.Sense have "frozen".
    3. This is the reason I WOULD LOVE! to be able to configure my PH16-71 fan settings in BIOS! (That is, as a fail safe, for if/when Pr.Sense freezes/crashes)

Has Acer abandoned the PH16-71 now? It certainly seems like it. No driver or BIOS updates for over a year.

Rather sad for one of their flagship products that was still purchasable less than 6 months ago.

I think it's pointless in thinking Acer will ever provide support/updated bios for product which is past it's warranty. And since they have lauched the new predator series lineup, all the support and effort are going there instead of their previous year flagship. This will be my last product from acer anyway😅. Was expeting good support for their flagship products atleast

I don't think I will be buying another Acer laptop again. I only bought the PH16-71 mid 2024.

I expect more than 1 year of support for a $3000 laptop.

Oh well, off to Ebay it goes.

As user User_PH16_71 is saying, the PH16-71 needs to be setup properly as Acer provides all the bios and drivers that work and makes this laptop operate perfect. make sure that you have Win-11 24H2 and all the updates to the last OS build: 26100.3775 first and the last bios version 1.16 installed. If you don't know how to setup a laptop like the PH16-71 then get a technician to do this for you, as you must be doing something wrong.

Acer will NOT release any bios updates or driver updates that are not needed. There are many Acer Predator version that operate perfectly, I'm using such a laptop that is the PHN16-71 and its an excellent high end laptop that I've never ever had problems with in general usage or high end gaming. Don't blame Acer.

There’s no information about the thermal pad thickness. If I open the laptop to replace the liquid metal (because over time it will damage the cooling system due to the Gallium in it), there’s a high chance the thermal pads will also need replacement. But I have no idea what thickness they should be — 0.5mm, 1mm, or 1.5mm — and there’s no official info available for components like VRAM, VRMs, and others. This is the first Acer laptop I’ve bought, and it will definitely be the last.

There's nothing wrong with my setup. I'd just like the ability to undervolt to preserve the life of the machine due to the issues with 13900.

Acer does not use thermal pads they use thermal paste and in the PH16-71 they use liquid metal for the cpu and normal high end paste for the gpu and vram chips they use special thermal paste.

If you want to change paste on the PH16-71 laptop then I suggest that you use the Thermal Grizzly products below, as those products are of a gaming standard pastes and allot of gamers use this paste, this is what I used on a Nitro AN515-56 and it worked perfectly and reduced temps by 15°C to 25°C with a laptop cooler also.

    1. Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal for the CPU
    2. Kryonaut Extreme for the GPU
    3. TG Putty for the VRAM chips
