Acer Nitro 5 not charging even when plugged in?

My laptop's battery is stuck at 0% and not charging. It turns off within a few seconds when unplugged. It works and boots up fine though.

Solutions I have tried:

  1. Tried a different power outlet.
  2. Run the power and Windows update troubleshooters.
  3. Hold power button for 1 minute and restart.
  4. Generate a battery report from the Command Prompt. The full charge capacity and cycle count aren't registering and there's no reading for usage since yesterday.
  5. On Device Manager, updated drivers for Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery. I have also tried disabling and enabling the latter device.

None of these have worked. I've seen some suggest uninstalling the battery devices but I'm hesitant because my laptop model doesn't have a detachable battery or reset button at the back. Is this safe to do?

Would really appreciate some other suggestions.

You did not mention resetting the BIOS, do that now, boot to BIOS with F2 and in BIOS press F9 (reset), save settings on exit and reboot. In windows don't just disable the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, you have to completely uninstall those 2 drivers, make sure you are on the internet and reboot, windows will reinstall the drivers.

If still no charging you probably have to replace your battery, I don't know your model laptop so I cannot check how old the battery is (2018?) but if more than 4 years the battery will be dead by now.

It's still not charging so perhaps it really is just the battery. It's only 2 years old so I was surprised. Thanks for the response.

Check device manager for any problem drivers. Try disconnecting the battery from the motherboard as well.

So I've managed to solve it. I opened the Acer Care Center, calibrated the battery then installed the Windows cumulative update preview. Now the battery usage shows up in the report. Not sure which of those did it but I'll leave this here for reference.
