AN515-45 “No Bootable Device” error

Sorry to add another question to the pile.

It’s as it says. As soon as I turn on my computer, it says “no bootable device.” A BIOS reset causes the screen to flash black a couple of times, then display the same error. Sometimes it goes away on its own, but one time I had to go get my computer fixed. Because all the data was kept intact and not factory reset, I assume the problem is not with the drive or software on it.

Internet has suggested that the SATA cables may have come loose, but my technician told me the AN515-45 doesn’t have them. Any idea what’s causing this?

Boot to BIOS with F2 and check in the INFO tab if the SSD is detected as HDD1: 512 GB NVMe SSD M.2 2280 (Western Digital?). Check in the Bios Boot Devices tab if Windows Boot Manager is listed at the top.

If your warranty already expired, open the back of the laptop and disconnect the battery cable to the motherboard.
Check the PCIe slot with the SSD boot drive if it is properly secured with the screw at the end, remove the SSD screw and take out the SSD then firmly insert it back in the slot and replace the screw.
This is a fairly new laptop (2022) so I doubt that the SSD is failing. Here are a couple of things you can do:

If this is too technical or you cannot even boot to BIOS anymore, I recommend bringing your laptop to Acer Services in your country to reset the system to factory defaults, a small service fee will be charged.

    Hi Puraw!

The HDD is detected as none. I did notice the presence of a “SATA mode” when booting to BIOS, though, so I’m fairly positive the model has SATA cables. Given the fact that the problem sometimes resolves periodically after I carry it around in my bag, and the fact they fixed it the first time around without damaging my data whatsoever, I think it’s just a case of cables easily coming loose.

    Thanks for the help!

    Robin

UPDATE: Fixed. Opened up the computer and had a look. Turns out either the Kingston SSD wasn't screwed in properly or the screw had come loose through some means or another, so it ended up not being seated properly. I adjusted its position, screwed it in tighter and the computer started working again.
