Hello,

i opened up my Acer Predator Helios 16 (NH.QJSEK.008) to upgrade my ram and noticed these stains on my coolers.

Is this normal or is it something to do with the LIQUID METAL Thermal Grease?

  • If the laptop functions 100% I wouldn't worry about it, also be aware that taking and/or opening a new laptop and even upgrading ram in the first 12 months of the Acer warranty of your laptop, can void your Acer warranty, so check up on your countries warranty rules and ask Acer. If you are worried about these stains, then either take/send your laptop to Acer Tech Support and get them to take and inspect the thermal module and what has happened to the paste, as those stains should not be there.

Thanks for getting back to me. Lap works fine and I have emailed tech support and awaiting response. Further investigation has shown other people with similar issues and its reported that its Silicone oil coming off of thermal pads. I shall await the reponse from the techs but upon closer inspect it does look like oil.
