Acer Aspire 3 USB Windows boot

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding booting Windows from a USB on the Acer Aspire 3 model. I can start by saying that in my specific case, there is no option to switch boot mode from UEFI to Legacy in the BIOS. I will also add that i have set a supervisor password, disabled Safe Boot and Disabled TPM, so to my knowledge there are no additional options i could change.

So firstly, as i turn the laptop on with the USB inserted, in the BIOS boot settings under the Boot Priority Order tab the USB does not show up. It seems the laptop cannot even see the insterted USB.

So to make sure that was or wasn't the case, i ran the laptop in UEFI shell, where i saw 2 new directories pop up with the USB inserted. However as i tried to access those directories by using the "dir" command, i got the message reading along the lines of "Cannot be opened" or "Invalid location". But the fact that the UEFI shell sees the USB should mean the BIOS Priority Boot should see it as well. Yet it does not.

So after checking plenty of online forums and YT videos and finding no answers, im asking here what possible solutions could there be?

One thing i have not tried is reinstalling the Windows installation to a newer USB, as this one is a few years old at this point.

Thanks in advance

What is your Aspire 3 exact model number and what OS does it have, and what are you trying to do? Are you trying to boot to install Windows or are you trying to Copy Windows to a USB and Make It Bootable and operate windows from the USB? Be more specific.

To make a bootable windows installation USB is very simple and you should use Rufus and download the install files from Microsoft, to Copy Windows to USB and Make It Bootable so you can use the windows OS from the USB, see the link above as there is 3 different ways to do that on that guide.

@StevenGen Thanks for the answer. In the meantime i got the issue resolved, i was performing too many unneeded steps. I got the Windows file on the USB, made it bootable, and got the Windows installation on the way.

So we can consider this issue RESOLVED.

    (caps for attention lol)

    Thanks again.
