I upgraded my laptop's RAM to 8GB with two 4GB 2400MHz sticks, but when I rebooted, I encountered a BSOD. I tried different RAM, different bus speeds, but none of them solved the issue. When I removed one of the RAM sticks, the laptop worked. Task Manager only detects a clock speed of 2133MHz for all the RAM sticks I tried (2400MHz, 2666MHz, 3200MHz). Another thing is that I can access the BIOS with dual-channel.

    The motherboard supports dual-channel, maximum 2133 MHz. Crucial recommends 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2666 SODIMM

Try to buy a kit of 2 exactly identical DDR4 modules like the Crucial kit in the link above and you should be OK. I think you will get the same speed as the 1x8 GB you have installed as that is running at maximum clock speed already so there is nothing to be gained by 2x4 GB. Consider 2x8GB (16GB) to increase RAM (and VRAM).

  • Can you test the two RAMs, individually, in both slots?
