I have replaced the hard drive in my Aspire V3-571 with a new ssd. I now cannot get the laptop to boot. I have tried an Acer repair disc for Windows 7 (the old hard drive used Windows 10). I have also tried downloading installation media from microsoft both on dvd and usb. Even changing the boot sequence from the BIOS, I still get the message "No bootable device". Is there any way I can return the laptop to factory defaults just to get it up and running?

Two comments: This is a W8.1 notebook and Windows10 OS is not supported by Acer for this model, you will have driver issues running W10. Next comment is what 2.5" Sata SSD did you install and how did you format the SSD (GPT)? Did you restore from your old HDD or a Clean Install?

Just in addition as I’ve got allot of experience with the V3-571G laptop, as I'm still using one and I've been using this laptop for 11 years. Also, and you have to realize that these laptops came with either an MBR/Legacy bios or a UEFI GUID (GPT) bios, which one have you got? Have a look at the bios version in the Windows System Info, as the versions 1.xx types are the MBR/Legacy bios only and the 2.xx type versions are the UEFI bios. If the bios needs updating, then update to the last of either the Legacy bios 1.xx version or the last UEFI version 2,21 as that could be an issue also with Win-10. I’m using this V3-571G with the UEFI bios version 2.21 and Win-10 Pro and its worked perfectly with Win-10 since this OS was released.

Note: if your V3-571 has an MBR/Legacy bios then you need to create a Windows 10 Legacy Media Creation Tool USB Bootloader in Legacy mode. See the web for instructions of how to install a legacy Win-10 OS.

Also, if you have an Aspire V3-571 laptops with the MBR/Legacy bios (which were the early release of this laptop) you can modify the bios format and change it to the UEFI GUID (GPT) format, there is a specific bios hack that is done with a hex editor software, so search the web for this bios mod as it works 100%. Btw, I speak from personal experience as I've done all that I'm suggesting to you, and all these mods/upgrades have worked and are still working with this laptop to this day! My laptop is the Aspire V3-571G and I have had this laptop since new and this was one of the early release V3-571Gs with the MBR/Legacy bios, and I modified it to UEFI format, I've been using this laptop for over 11 years and have upgraded its cpu, ram and its boot drive to a 2.5" ssd and its still working perfectly with Win-10 Pro OS.

Below is the two V3-571 bios boot sections:

V3-571 with the MBR/Legacy bios that Win-10 can't be installed in UEFI mode.

V3-571 with a UEFI bios that can also be installed with Win-10 in legacy mode

If you have replaced the oem 2.5" SATA III spinner HDD with a 2.5" SATA III SSD check your bios like above, as I've never ever had any issues upgrading from a spinner 2.5" HDD to an SSD, my laptop was and is operating perfectly on a 2.5" spinner HDD that I cloned the Win-10 Pro OS onto the Samsung 850 EVO SSD in UEFI format.

Check your installation of the 2.5" SSD drive and make sure that the SSD drive pins are making full contact with the mainboard SATA plug and that the mainboard SATA plug is clean, and its pins are not corroded and are making 100% contact with the SSD drive. If you have any other questions just ask.

Check the laptops SATA mainboard plug, as circled below.

For your information, these are all the mods that I've done to this laptop to improve performance and its improved this laptops Win-10 Pro functionality by over 200%:

    1. Changed the oem Intel i7-3610QM to the i7-3840QM
    2. Upgraded the ram to 2x SK Hynix 4GB DDR3-1866MHz modules
    3. Upgraded the boot drive to a 1TB Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSD or the newest Samsung 2.5" SATA III SSD.
    4. Got rid of the DVD drive and put a caddy into the DVD space for the oem 2.5" 500GB-WD5000BPVT" spinner HDD to be used as a slave drive
